Open with the right encoding
UTF-8 is standard. If names look wrong, re-export from the source system with UTF-8 before cleaning.
Remove empty rows
Trailing blank rows from Excel saves inflate row counts and break import row limits.
Standardize emails and phones
Lowercase emails and consistent phone formatting prevent false duplicates and validation errors.
Validate before upload
Check row count, header row, and a random sample of 20 rows after cleanup.
